I am so sad and speechless after reading this. The next moment, I remembered that, my Metlife Insurance agent's husband had the same story. But miracle happened; he survived. So don't loose your hope. Sometimes hope is the best medicine.

To answer your question, though I am not aware of any laws for this type of situation, we can always try. I would try to get an appointment with either Zoe Lofgren or Nancy Pelosi. May be there are ways. If you need help, let us know we can accompany you.

You can file I-485 only when your dates are current. If you filed I-485 by itself (not concurrently with I-140) then your PD will not be on the I-485.

I-140 approval - March 2008
Spouse 485/AP/EAD applied - August 2008 (received receipt notices)
Self EAD applied - August 2008 (received receipt notices)
Till date I have not received my FP notice. I applied for my EAD (even though I am not planning on using it) hoping to jump start my pending 485 and get the things rolling for FP and processing of 485. Surprisingly, I got my EAD approval email on Aug 17th and I received my EAD card in the mail yesterday. It is valid for 2 years. It says finger prints not available. No change in the pending 485 status.
I am totally perplexed about receiving the EAD without FP and so is my attorney. Can someone give me an idea of what is going on? Any input is appreciated! Thanks much!

Did you see I said "legally speaking?" If our attorneys answered Yes to the question you mentioned, then according to you they all lied, since "no H-1B job is permanent!"

Just thought I will share my Infopass experience.
I had an appointment at 1:30 pm in LA. Reached there in time but had to wait at the tail of a long line despite first asking the security person about the location of Infopass entrance (assuming there was one).
The same guy announced after 10-odd minutes that Infopass people should follow him to a door and so we did. The clerk at one of the windows inside took a long time and then asked us to take a seat and wait to be called.
We got called in 10 minutes and this clerk now said that for our case, we needed to be sent "upstairs" but since it was already past 2 pm and we had "so many files" (3 to be exact), we needed to book yet another appointment for an earlier time slot! Impressive!
We have done that now and hope to get some insight next time around. Funny that nothing about 2 pm is mentioned anywhere when booking an appointment for Infopass.

But as a compromise, I have got a very simple and easy way out...I can tell you one thing, I do have a case which does not require any law change but just the interpretation of it.
Make sure that 5882 is successful. If it proceeds, I will back down. It is a shame that among 25K members raising 5K becomes a challenge.
This goes on to show there is no community. If there is not community then I have to look after my interest.
GC ke liye kucch bhi karega. (Translation: I will do anything to get my GC)

Lol.. majority needs reservations ??, in a class of 100 if 50 % are group A, then group has the most chance of getting jobs with the sheer attribute of having numbers to advantage, however if group A is morally corrupt and think that reservation is their birthright, then so be it. They will always suffer with prosecution complex.
